From a "Tuscany Idea" to "Prima Spremitura" - The first extra-food product with "IGP" certification -

Prima Spremitura is the first "IGP" certificated cosmetic line

From the genius of two Tuscan entrepreneurs, in 2008 was born the production of a new line of cosmetics that respects the environment, land and health: it is the Prima Spremitura of Idea Toscana, the first cosmetic line extra food which had obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture, the "IGP" (Protected Geographical Indication) as it is fully realized with Biological Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil "IGP".

Antonio Pieri and Ludovico Martelli, are the pioneers of a challenge that is unprecedented in the  recent months of crisis with a cosmetic line with a strong idea and they have won various countries in the world.

Working closely with the Consortium for the Protection of the Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil "IGP", inseparable partner in the project, which  each year has access to well  11.500 associated companies, including more than 600 bottlers, 300 mills and 7 million recorded plants, or the mark  Tuscany around the world. With the  "Spremitura" of November 2007, at the beginning of 2008, it was possible to produce the line "Prima Spremitura".

Each year, in November, associated farmers are working to provide as soon as possible the best oil for the manufacture of cosmetics. "Our" competitors" are using the most different vegetable oils among them also the one of oil - explains Pieri. In these cases, the chosen oils are refined, handled, treated on a chemical-physical  level to improve transparency, stability and olfactory characteristics. Doing in this way some of the properties of native oils get lost thus reducing their healthy value.
     

The product line "Prima Spremitura" respects the raw material such as the Biological Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil "IGP" and its Production Regulation.

That's why the chosen oil is  not modified in no way, it is used in the same manner as it arrives from the oil-press, after having been certified Toscano "IGP".
Not only it is organic but it's good for the skin, it has been scientifically proven that the Tuscan oil is suitable as a screen against free radicals -  and therefore ageing - since it is rich of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, it has a low acidity and it is easy to  metabolize by the human body, besides being rich of polyphenols, tocopherols including the vitamin E. That's the reason why great products were born from a great idea.

How we work

Our "competitors" use various types of vegetable oils and among them also the one of olive. The selected and used oils are often refined, manipulated products modified on a chemical-physical level in order to improve scent, transparency, stability. In this way some of the properties of the native oils get often lost, by refining and purification, the vegetable oils can be depauperated of functional and beneficent components for the skin.

The formulations of the Prima Spremitura line respect the Production Regulation imposed by the Consortium for the protection of the Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil IGP¯: the selected natural raw material, Biological Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil IGP¯, isn't modified in no way. It is used in the same manner as it arrives from the oil-press after the correct control and certification, added cold and raw on the formulations directly from the original packing (5 litre tin cans) at the end of the production process after having cooled down to room temperature the prepared formulations, just how it is required by the Regulation.

Applying this procedure, all the benefits of this precious active ingredient are transmitted on the skin in order to enrich, to moisten and to nourish it.

The dosage of the Biological Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil IGP¯ calibrated according to the typology and the functionality of the cosmetic formulation in order to not leave any residuum of greasiness, considering especially that the used oil is a native oil, extremely rich with precious active ingredients for the skin compared to other vegetable oils used in cosmetic products. For this reason the dosages of the oil in the cosmetic formulations don't necessarily have to be high: the used raw material is in fact of high quality and functional efficacy.
